Central Enables Major Retailer to Purchase Essential Software

The Client

One of Canada’s largest international athletic apparel retailers.

The Challenge

The client needed to keep pace with the consumer shift to eCommerce channels and expand their business into new markets to maintain the growth of their global apparel business. Pressure from the competition and investors required that IT deliver a solution without impacting the bottom line. Lack of a real-time, end-to-end view of their existing eCommerce environment problems during peak traffic times was causing a negative customer experience and revenue loss. While AppDynamics offered a solution that could quickly deliver end-to-end monitoring with minimal impact on the client’s project and operations teams, lack of funding for the software was a show stopper.

The Solution

Recognized as an expert interpreting FASB/IFRS guidelines, Central worked closely with the client and AppDynamics to structure a multi-year Capital Lease Agreement that enabled the client to purchase AppDynamics SaaS subscriptions using project capital funds from several distinct budget periods. The result enabled the client to install AppDynamics in time for their migration to new, higher performance data centers.


The client was able to fund their software purchase by diverting a portion of the purchase from their operating budget to their capital budget. IT tackled the first page view through to order check-out and fulfillment. Additionally, the client converted the first year OpEx so that it could be amortized.
